Saunders, Cyrus G.
In 1840, Saunders was the proprietor of the Globe Tavern in Springfield, Illinois. In 1845, he was appointed assistant marshal
of
Springfield, Illinois In November 1846, Saunders became secretary to Governor Thomas Ford. In 1847, he was unsuccessful in
his bid
for Sangamon County clerk. Saunders left Illinois and went to California in December 1849.
